As far as the 3G iphone, everything is speculation still at this point. I heard apple contracted with a Taiwanese manufacturer to build the new phone and that the existing phone would cease to be built soon. Speculation is June for the new phone but there have been many changes done with it, mostly to make it more attractive to the corporate user, so who knows if it is on schedule or not. As for Android, what is important there is that it is essentially open source, independent software developers can create all types of applications to run on the platform, which of course will lead to innovation and broaden the uses for Android. As you will recall, Apple just recently released their SDK (software developers kit) for the iphone however they have put a lot of stipulations on the programs being developed. Another criteria from Apple was that they would not allow the phone to multi-task. It will not run more than one program at a time, one can only assume they are concerned about OS/program conflicts causing crashes or maybe multiple programs running slowing the phones processor too much. This is somewhat of a bummer since any decent smartphone should be able to multi-task. Symbian and WM handle this with out issue. Still, it should be exciting whenever its released.
